chinatown 3
july 14, 2002

in the center of chinatown, there's this gaudy tribute to the tiger balm gardens (at least in my humble opinion) and it's called the "chinatown wishing well". people spend loads of coins on this colorful worn down artistic relief and they try their luck by hitting it into the various tins next to signs such as lotto, wisdom, love, happy, money, vacation and even one for all you español speakers, suerte, which means luck. :) they even have turtles swimming around at the bottom of the structure. it's rather lonely there though.

see?

i know you're probably wondering how many photos can one possibly take in chinatown. well my friends, i can tell you that it's pretty much infinite since the true photos of chinatown don't really lie in these buildings or structures but more in the people who live and work out of there.

more of the sights in chinatown...albeit a bit on the touristy side.

don't you just adore *cough* that typeset they use to represent chinesey english words?

this shop is full of fortune readings stuff. it was quiet outside, i guess with this economy, we don't need a fortune teller to tell us our fate. :p

and the quintessential elderly chinese man sitting on a bench with his legs crossed.

I'm out.
