<just a photo entry>
i can't even begin to name the buildings of downtown LA even if my life depended on it. pershing square in the foreground, a slew of buildings back yonder. i suppose living in LA, if you don't work in downtown, there really isn't much need to go unless you have an appointment there with businesses, need something from the consulate's office for your passport or unless you're buying jewelry from the downtown jewelry mart that is located right across the street from the photo above.
probably my favorite photo of the day. reflecting ceiling shows the various newspaper stands below.
more high rises on a very rare blue skied afternoon. doesn't this picture look like the nyny casino in vegas? sometimes downtown LA doesn't even look real to me. it's too clean. :p
the times building above and a mural of one of the best shows i've seen in a long time on PBS, American Family, below. i wanted to mention this show for the longest time and about how much i'm enjoying it but always forget to, until at least i take a photo of it that's 7 stories high. i've always been drawn to watching tv shows or movies regarding latino families. not the telenovelas mind you but stuff like mi familia, tortilla soup etc.
from what i've seen, Latino families are very similar to Chinese families -- at least in my opinion. it's an observation that i've noticed for quite a while now but am wondering if i'm the only one who feels this way. perhaps the chino-latino can give me some insight on this. :) i suppose i'm thinking of the family life, the patriarch, the matriarch, the cohesion of an extended family, the big get togethers, the importance of food, culture, language. i suppose that sounds like all different types of cultures as well but for some reason, i still find them closely familiar.
