I spoke
too soon.
I am
still not well. Somehow, this change of weather is affecting my
allergies like it's never done before. My nose began running yesterday
morning and hasn't stopped. My throat is parched and sore. I can
barely breath through one nostril. And the roof of my mouth feels
like it got scraped by those Chinese soup spoons. I'm not even sure
if it's a cold or allergies but I've been smearing Mentholatum under
my nose constantly like an 80 year old. I even called my allergy
doctor who then told me that complaints from patients have been
pouring in all week.
Ok,
I guess I'm not the only one who's bitching and it's good to know.
It's
a bad week really.
Man,
I really hate feeling so shitty. Especially since I am going snowboarding
for the first time tomorrow.
Oh,
I don't think I mentioned that yet. But yes, I'm going to hit the
slopes for the first time in my life tomorrow. And I'm currently
in no condition to do that. So I've taken Tylenol Sore Throat and
my good ole Chinese standby, Coltalin. That shit knocks you out
hard-core. In fact, I better hurry up and write this down before
it kicks in.
So
I'm going snowboarding tomorrow with my brother and K if I'm not
feeling so bad by then. I've never been one to play in snow and
cold weather stuff. I'm much more the warm climate beach type of
girl. But I suppose I should take advantage of it while it's available
to me locally. If you recall, my brother got me a snowboarding pass
for my birthday so that I can try it out since he's a huge snowboard
freak. But one reason I've shied away from doing all this snow stuff
is because it's so damn expensive to get all your gear.
I went
to purchase my first pair of snowboard pants a couple weeks ago.
I think I need an inseam of 32" to fit it properly but who
gives a fuck if it's 7 inches too long for me (do your math). Why
oh why are snowboarding pants so un-short people friendly?? It seems
like you have to have mile long legs to fit into them as they are.
I'm sorry, no one's looking out for us short lil Asian girls when
it comes to snowboarding. Every single pair that I tried puddled
around my ankles and dragged on the floor but I guess when you're
in your boots etc., it doesn't really matter. Short girls like me
stick to warm weather activities because then I won't need to worry
if my swimsuit is too long. :p
Anyway,
I'm excited but am worried that I'm not feeling well enough to go.
I have my jacket (borrowed from SIL N), beanie, goggles, gloves,
wool socks, etc.
I know
I'm styling.
If
I do end up going, I'm sure you'll hear all about my dismal attempts
on the slopes and how sore my ass is.

Fishpimp
playing with her digicam as well. She's such a copycat! :P Haha.
Fishpimp
and I tried out a new place in West Covina on Monday called Penang.
It's a Malaysian restaurant that already has locations in NYC, NJ,
GA, IL and MD. This 10th location is their first on the West Coast.
I really *love* Malaysian food although I always pay later because
of its spiciness. I am especially enamored of their Ice Barley drink
(shown above). It really cools down the flames of fire in my mouth.

I first
heard of this place when I saw a menu at my SIL's place. And then
K told me he's been to the one in NYC as well. And since I rarely
can find good Malaysian restaurants that both tastes good and won't
break my bank, I went in to be the guinea pig. We started off with
the Satay Tofu stuffed with bean sprouts and cucumbers. It was tasty
and juicy, just like I would imagine it to be.

Then
I got one of my all time faves, Roti Canai - which is like a thin
flat pastry dipped in chicken curry. I also use a lil bit of sugar
on the side to enhance its flavor. I always order this regardless
of whatever else I'm getting. I'm a Roti Canai fanatic. And then
I had the Spicy Thai Chicken with rice on the side. This dish practically
burnt holes in my mouth but I finished it all and they were so kind
to accommodate me with all white meat -- yeah, I'm such an ABC.
:p I didn't eat the skin though because I just don't need the extra
fat to compound what I already have.

We
had another dish as well (which I'm not showing) that Fishpimp got,
the Beef Chow Fun. It was a lil bland but edible. I didn't take
a photo of it because I didn't think it was "Malaysiany"
enough. I would recommend the place to anyone who likes Malaysian
food and even if you don't, you ought to give it a try. The interior
has warm brown tones and a bit of industrial-like flavor with exposed
pipes and beams. The only take CASH however and so
you better walk in with some dough in your pocket.
