finally. i have some time to sit down and post an entry. i would have done so earlier but my computer was being repaired for a day and then i had a lot of work to bring home to do as well. speaking of which, i ought to be doing some work right now because i know i won't have time to do so this weekend with all the festivities going on. [insert: calgon, take me awayyyyy!]

anyway, the above photo is one of my favorites from this trip. it's taken at the byodo-in buddhist temple in the valley of the temples. although the picture doesn't quite do it justice, the lush greenery mingled with the orange kois and the red flowers in the background was just truly beautiful.

the byodo-in was very overcast by the time we wound our way down the windward coast so it was rather dark as you can tell by the above photo. but with the clouds hovering about, it was a really peaceful and serene place to be but the mosquitoes will eat you alive if you don't have insect repellant on. :p and since it just rained, the warm humid stickiness made them come out in droves. i should mention though that i did like their little giftshop.

more kois but this time, in this pond, they were mainly all bright gold and yellow! very very cool. it's giving me more tattoo ideas actually. :p and below is a close up of the structure of the temple.

every time i go on my circle island drive, i have to stop at the dole plantation. it's not like i looonnnggg to go there and play in their maze, look at their koi ponds or put my head through those board displays. but i mainly need to go for their dole whip. :p it's sooooooooooooooooooo tasty and lactose free! oh yeah! and their souvenirs are pretty cheap too. ;) looking at the photo below makes me want to dig into one right now!

on our way up to north shore, we encountered a funnel cloud up ahead to our left. if you look closely in the photo, you can see it. beyond that is the north shore. again, the colors of hawaii are really spectacular. i know i value the scenery and vividness of hawaii alot, especially since all i see here in LA is brown/gray smog *cough* which gives everything a hazy cast.

we pulled off into the north shore marketplace because i always stop into strong current and also into patagonia. but unfortunately for us, our aviator locked the keys in the car and we ended up sitting there waiting for Triple A to come save us for nearly 1 hour. needless to say, we got to spend a lot more time in haleiwa than intended. but it's all good because even the Triple A guys in hawaii are so much more pleasing to the eye than the ones who come save us here in LA. :p :x at this rate, we ought to lock our keys in our cars more often next time. shhhhhh.

our aviator posing with our lovely subaru wagon outside of patagonia. is it me or do his birkenstocks look really odd in this photo? anyway, more this weekend, if i survive it that is. :p

I'm out.
