tortilla soup
january 24, 2004

i've been craving homemade mexican tortilla soup for weeks now. but i've been too tired and busy as of late to make any sense of the groceries in my fridge, let alone make something of the stuff in there. since i only had a half day of work yesterday due to the move, i got home early and got cracking at it while ellen played in the background.

the result was what you see above. shredded chicken meat in the broth mixed with veggies, jalapenos, cheese, freshly fried tortilla strips, avocados, cilantro and a touch of lime juice. :9 yummy. i make a pretty badass soup if i do say so myself. i'm actually considering doing one of those soup parties where i whip up a few batches of soups have bread, side dishes, condiments accompanying the meal. but then there's always that one person in the group who demands a side of cow or a frou frou salad to balance it out. um...yeah. i don't see them throwing any parties or doing the cooking. but i'd like to do this before the weather heats up in a few months so that everyone will still crave the comfort foods now.

if you haven't noticed by now, i'm a soup girl.

i'm out.
