lara craft girls

i got an opportunity to meet up with luckykat linda and daydreamy gg this morning for breakfast and to also do some yarn shopping as well. gg was in town for thanksgiving weekend and was kind enough to squeeze us into her schedule for a quick meet up. i haven't seen her since i was in sf last year and i haven't seen linda since spring of this year. so it was by chance that both of them were free this morning for a last minute get together.
we caught up on this-n-that & also on real life and online life stuff as well. it's nice to talk to others who understand about this online world we "live" in and it never ceases to amaze me how great it is that through this website, i was/am able to meet very nice and genuine people. what started out as online friendships have developed into real life friendships over the years.

^ look of euphoria
after our quickie breakfast, i took them to a local yarn store that i frequented before. nice yarn stores are far and few in between in the eastside. everything seems to have sprouted up in west los angeles, but over here in the asian mecca of san gabriel valley - it's rare to fondle anything but scratchy acrylic & polyester yarn.
ick.
so it was a great find for me to come across this place over in whittier. i haven't been back there in a couple months but they have since gotten so much more yarn, changed their layout of the store, increased their variety and colors of yarn and supplies. i'm in heaven!
we were on a search for our own yarns but linda & i gravitated towards the greens & oranges while gg went straight for the pinks & baby blues. i picked up about 10 skeins and 3 new needles along with other doo dads.
my wallet is bleeding again.
what's great about the store is that if you purchase the yarns from the store and sit down on the couch to knit, the owner will actually come help and answer any questions and show you how to do certain techniques. i purchased a couple patterns the last time i was there and she showed me a couple things right away. very cool! and people are always stopping in to knit. check it out if you are a yarn fiend like me!

after our yarn spree, we headed over to teastation to have a drink and to knit for a bit. since gg was my inspiration to start knitting in the first place, she was kind enough to show me how to knit in the continental style and her speciality, knitting in the round. it's so much easier to understand when someone there is showing it to you in person. it was so much fun comparing notes on yarn, kntting styles, etc.
hope us lara craft girls can meet up again soon! it was great seeing both of you!
and gg, i've been knitting continental tonight! still awkward though. thanks! :D
