Emulsion Chick and her sisters
you know wedding season is in full bloom when so many of my entries are wedding this, wedding that. today, we celebrated my friend Emulsion Chick's bridal shower, aloha style. since it's certainly starting to feel like summer and our party was to be outdoors, it was just begging to be a pseudo luau in the making.

since Emulsion Chick lives up in oregon now, it was hard to pinpoint a date to hold this party for her. but we finally decided on a date and everything went into full swing. her two sisters and friends really put a lot of time into the planning and each one of us contributed to a portion of it. amazingly, all the pieces came together rather seamlessly.

i love gerber daisies!

part of my job, i prepared the aloha dogtags by putting on the guests name on each one with my handy dandy labelmaker. we also split up our teams (for games) this way according to the colored tags.

in addition, i ordered some silk hibiscus flower hairclips for each person to add that hawaiian touch. forget about the puka shells, we are all wahines here. i really ended up loving the hair clip and wished i could secretly wear this everyday. :p i personally liked the orange and yellow hibiscus but the hot pink one matched my magenta hair better. :p
and some photos of the guest of honor and her guests:

one of the most popular games at a bridal shower is the making of a wedding dress out of toilet paper. i was on the team that dressed up Emulsion Chick's mom (second from the left). i thought our halter top with roses and billowing skirt would have won. :p her mom was a good sport for letting us poke her boobies. the winning dress ended up being the one in the center.

amazing floral decorations made by Emulsion Chick's sister, RN Chick

the party favors, made by Emulsion Chick's eldest sister, Bio Hazard Chick, was a cookie cutter with a yummy sugar cookie recipe tied to it. what a fab idea and it was so cute.

instead of a cake, cupcakes were made for each guest. these were hands down, the best cupcakes ever. lucky for us, a sister of a high school friend (who is studying to be a pastry chef) made these delicious and i'm sure fattening goodies for us. :9
it was so nice seeing old friends and meeting new people. although i was so beat by the time i got home, it was so worth the hardwork to pull this together. i think everyone who helped plan it, did a great job.
now, only 1 more month till the wedding. :)
