on the night of my actual birthday, it was also the grand re-opening of my favorite local sushi bar. they closed at the end of january to begin their month long hiatus to overhaul the restaurant. i whimpered as i wonder what i was going to do without my sashimi & sushi for a whole month. i mean, i could go to other places but i'm used to frequenting this place. it's always comforting to know the staff by their names and for them to know of your preferences without having to say anything.
when they told me that they would be re-opening on march 1st - i knew it was the perfect place to ring in my 35th. i was really anxious to see their remodel and i wasn't disappointed. it was very zen and modern in colors of green reeds, sun dried bamboos and grays. it was a huge improvement from the old look and i actually felt like i was sitting in some fancy restaurant on the westside.
i was also pleasantly surprised to run into B & J at the restaurant too. they were at my birthday party a couple days before. you can see them peering at me in the first photo above - knowing exactly why i was taking a picture (for the website of course). :p
