these two ladies need no introduction as they are regulars on the site. g, fishpimp and i have been trying to find a time to get together for a mini girl's night out since forever now but with the rains and other things impending on our schedule, we weren't able to meet up until now. since g doesn't engorge herself with korean food as much as i do, she was craving for some of the things she's been seeing on this site. i guess the food photos does something to you after awhile...even those with the strongest of will power.

i suggested going to jang soo in cerritos since it's kind of in the middle for everyone and i know their food is really good, so i won't be disappointed. and i know how when you've been craving something and you end up getting crap, it really ruins your meal. and believe me, when you go out to eat with me, i really want everything to be tasty because good food, good friends = good times. i guess good soju = good times too but that's another story for another time.

it was when the food arrived that i realized from g, how i just assumed everyone knew how to eat the chadol baegi (beef brisket bbq) with the rice wrapper. i suppose i talk about it so much on this site without much thought that i don't realize that there are people out there who probably don't know what the hell i'm talking about and who are probably too shy to email and ask. since g never had it before, it was the perfect opportunity to document it and to show you how to eat it.
first of course, you barbeque the chadol baegi until it's pretty much done - which shouldn't take too long on a hot grill. you get a thin piece of ttuk (rice noodle wrapper) and you place a slice of the preserved radish on top of it.

the meal usually comes with a salad with house dressing and some red pepper flakes in it for a spicy kick. you can take a bit of it and place it on top of your radish (which is already on top of the ttuk).
once the chadol baegi is ready, place that on top of the mini-layered creation and add some of the chili paste on it if you wish.
then you expertly with deft kung fu like hands roll up the whole thing with your chopsticks and then dip it into the sesame oil, salt & pepper mixture that is provided for you.
and eat.
try it, you'll like it.
yum.

when i got back from lunch today, i found a box on my desk. to my surprise, i got a really nice present from a dear friend! :) there's nothing quite like some loving from the islands! and it was the most adorable thing too - tried & true recipe cards of local foods. i can't wait to try it out and make some onolicious grub.
thank you SO much D! your care package came at the perfect moment when i really needed a lift! :) you can be sure i'll be putting those cards to good use. :9 yummy.

someone got a new car recently. if you've been reading this site for a few years, you should know who this belongs to since it's a newer version of her old one. :p even the color is the same. don't tell her i said this but3 words: creature of habit. as i rode in it, i was intoxicated by the new car leather smell. it was quite orgasmic.
i think there's a certain impression of asian LA women and what they drive. but not ALL of us drive little japanese cars or fancy european ultimate driving machines either. there's plenty of girls who drive all sorts of other cars. i know it's very easy to assume how us big city girls in los angeles cruise around in our little bmws going to fred segal shopping with a coffee bean & tea leaf drink in hand while balancing our balenciaga purse. :p but in reality, we are just going to the local drugstore to pick up tampons and hemorrhoid gel while holding a big gulp slurpee.
but i have to admit that in my neighborhood, the majority of the asian women do drive cars that cost more than my annual salary - i of course am not one of those women.
thanks for the ride and for making me high off the new car smell.

currently listening to: andy gibb, i just want to be your everything
