niece # 2 aka sofia arrived into this world today at 11:32 am. i paid a visit to her tonight at the hospital shortly before visiting hours were concluding. at 6 pounds 14 ounces, she is about half a pound lighter than her sister jasmine at birth and is about 1/2 inch shorter in length. but she has the most adorable face - complete with chubby cheeks and perfectly full lips (much like someone i know *cough*). but it also looks like she got the flat fat nose like her auntie aiyah as well. boo.

baby & mom are both doing fine and are expected to go home on friday. seeing the birth of sofia reminds me of cyn as i know she is about to have hers very soon too. they were supposed to be due the same date but i guess not anymore. :p tonight, i found myself constantly comparing her to jasmine. although there are similarities, i think overall, sofia has a much cuter face. of course i could be biased since i think sofia looks like me. ha ha ha. she has a whole head of dark hair and from what they tell me, she has dark brown eyes already - unlike jasmine who was born with gray blue eyes that later turned to dark brown eyes. i can't wait to see what she will look like when she gets older.

it's also quite unusual that sofia was born today as it's also my sister's birthday as well.

happy birthday to my sister & to sofia! :)

and thus begins a year full of expected babies to arrive....let the diaper games begin.

welcome sofia and congratulations to my brother and my sis in law!

after visiting hours were over, my brother and i decided to hit pasta connection for a late dinner. i used to go to this place but haven't been by in about 10 years. it's funny that he suggested it since i was thinking of this place as i was semi-driving past it on my way to the hospital. maybe that's why we are siblings?

pasta connection is one of those tiny places that makes their own homemade pasta and the taste and difference is amazing compared to the typical italian chain restaurant. they actually serve argentenian/italian cuisine so they have some unusual specialities as well.

in celebration of the birth of my niece , i decided i *could* splurge on a plate of pasta (something that i usually do not indulge in). i took the safe route and ordered the spaghetti bolongnese with meatballs. there's one thing i am deathly afraid of in italian food and that is the overly tart type of pasta sauces. but this one was just hindering on that and so it was perfect. and it wasn't too salty - which is another one of my dining fears. i finished half the plate and was ready to slip into a food coma. :9 perhaps this is why i don't eat pasta very often.

my brother had the tutto mare. omg, this was SO good. a seafood sauce that is light and garlicky over pasta. next time i go there, this is what i am having! the sauce is chocked full of calamari, fish, shrimp, baby octopus, squid etc.

pasta connection is exactly as i remembered it to be. small, dark and lots of knick knacks inside. i should really go down to newport beach more often but then again, that would be venturing into OC territory. haha.

dialogue from dinner:

me: did you cry when when sofia was born today?
aiyah brother: no.....it was completely different than the first time with jasmine.
me: oh? did you cry when jasmine was born?
aiyah brother: uh...no.

can i say how much i absolutely love an authentic spumoni ice cream? oh yes, i certainly did let myself go tonight.

currently listening to: narcotic thrust, i like it

i'm out.
