last wednesday, i met up with some old friends. i try to steer away from the term online friends because friends after i meet them [after a couple times] just simply become friends in my life. i know we all sort of categorically tag our friends with a label, but the term online friends to me is really vague. if i want to get really detailed, there are online journal friends, online reader friends and online friends from my chatting days on aol.
these 3 are people i've known from my aol days [way back when]. it's a shame that we don't see each other too often anymore unless someone visits LA. the last time i saw 2 of them was back in this entry [thank god for my archives as my brain is absolutely useless these days]. it was SO good to see them all again. in many ways, it seems like no time has passed but in reality it's been 10 years since we first met [and don't say i don't ever keep friendships people!].

steve was in town again from nyc for the E3 show and so i went to meet up with him, pam & dennis. i swear, i don't know why the rest of us don't meet up from time to time. call it laziness, call it life, call it what you will but we certainly weren't as busy 10 years ago when we had all those "meets" and "get togethers". i guess that's what we call youth.

we of course spent the night reminiscing the good ole days...the people, the drama, the screen names, what happened to who and all that good stuff. i really hope to be in touch with these folks more often, it was crazy fun. :) and congrats steve'o! :) it was great to see all of you!

clutching her strawberry smoothie boba for dear life it seems
over the weekend, jasmine & sofia came to visit with their parents. after jasmine's nap, her uncle and i took her out for boba, fried squid ball, fried spicy chicken and then strawberry ice cream. this little girl is one smart and tricky cookie i tell you and she eats all that crazy chinese food too!
saturday conversations with my niece:
me: do you want boba or ice cream?
j: boba.
me: what kind of boba you want?
j: chocolate boba.
me: there's no chocolate boba.
j: i want fruity boba.
me: do you want to try this?
j: <nods>
me: it's deep fried squid ball. try it, you'll like it.
j: <chews the pieces i tear for her>
me: do you want some of the fried chicken?
j: <nods & chews the chicken>
me: which one do you like better?
j: i like the squid ball.
me: you're a squid ball monster.
me: i'm going to get ice cream.
j: i want ice cream too. <pushes her unfinished boba to
me>
me: what flavor do you want?
j: strawberry.
j: no, chocolate.
j: no, strawberry.
me: who likes chocolate the most at your house?
j: mommy.
me: what flavor is daddy's favorite?
j: strawberry.
me (ordering): strawberry ice cream in a cup please.
j: i want a cone.
grandma is happy with baby sofia
in my family, the womenfolk obviously are not very tall since i'm only 5'0", my mom is the same as me and my sister is about and inch or two taller than me. my brother on the other hand is about 5'11". it's not very fair is it? and don't let me get started on who got the looks in the family....[hint: it's not me].
during their visit, i got a chance to play with baby sofia. unfortunately she's colicky and quite uncomfortable so the only time she simmered down was when auntie aiyah took her outside for a walk. and all of you in LA know that it was nearly 100 degress on saturday. oy - the sacrifice one makes to quiet down a baby.
i can't help but draw visual comparisons between sofia & jasmine. from what it looks like now, sofia visually looks a bit more asian and in fact reminds me of .... me at that age. but these crazy babies change all the time, so we'll have to see how she will look later on. i realize that i need to take some photos of my sis in law N....i don't post her on the site often enough even thought she's an avid reader of aiyah! hi SIL N! :)
will continue with more of the hearst castle trip in the upcoming entries. too many photos to share.
