tutankhamun

egads, where does the time go?
anyway, same ole shit on my end. so there's nothing really new to explain.
i've been getting into somewhat of a culture kick these days. for the past few months, i've been committing myself to at least one cultural event...just to get away from the norm. it's actually a good way of getting my ass out of the house and putting my time into something that i enjoy doing instead of just eating or shopping.
after hearing that the king tut exhibit is in its last few weeks here in los angeles, i decided to get some tickets and get up close and personal with 3500 year old artifacts. when i went online to purchase the tickets, they only had the 10:00pm showing left. 10:00pm?! there was of course a time when i didn't even go out until way after 10:00pm but nowadays, i'm typically in bed watching tv at that time.
but nonetheless, i decided to go and see this exhibit because it may never come around again in this lifetime of mine. i was pretty astonished at the number of sheer people who were there at 10pm. we had to first wait in this makeshift tent and then were allowed into the exhibit small groups at a time.
since no photography was allowed, i wasn't able to get anything until the very end as i was leaving and when the security guard were too lazy ass to say anything to me anymore. hell, it was almost 1am by the time left the exhibit. sounds insane doesn't it?
i've always been one of those people captivated by egyptology. ever since i could remember, i've always told my parents i want to visit egypt one day. needless to say, i haven't gotten myself there yet and so, egypt has to come to me this time. the exhibit mainly focused on artifacts from 3,000-3,500 BCE, many of items were actual items found in the tomb buried alongside tutankhamun. it was an amazing display of sculptures, funerary items, busts and a gold coffin. to think that they are preserved to this day, thousands of years later is simply mind-boggling.
although i was impressed and enjoyed myself, i was really disappointed to not see the actual tutankhamun gold coffin. i really thought there would be more but i suppose artifacts like that probably are not allowed out of its own country anymore.

a couple months back, i decided to get a home docking system for my ipod. truth be told, i was a little tired of wearing the ipod around the house and being aloof to every other sound going on. also, i was in perpetual fear of dropping it eventually and wearing that arm band felt like i was getting my blood pressure taken.
so i invested in this $84.99 iHome because some of the reviews said it was pretty good and the price worked for me as well. i really dig its nice clean look that follows the same design concept as the ipod. and the speakers on this little guy is pretty darn good for a no name deal. ever since getting the ipod earlier this year, i haven't gone buck wild and amassed a huge music collection or anything. i've been too lazy to do that really. but tonight i decided that i need to put all those great jpop, kpop, cpop oldies onto the ipod. i think i spent over 4 hours putting 200 songs from my cds into the aiyahpod.
some well loved music artists that got placed into the aiyahpod tonight:
shirley kwan
hikaru utada
maki ohguro
namie amuro
dj doc
misia
globe
trf
untitle
ayumi hamasaki
jackie cheung
faye wong
teresa teng (!)
