toasty
april 13, 2006

one of the really simple treats in life that i love is a slice of thick toast slathered with butter and condensed milk....served up nice and warm. this is a really common staple in hong kong for afternoon tea and breakfast at times. i like it for dessert and a snack when i'm craving something sweet.
i haven't had it in a long time but after looking at some photos from my hk trip back in 2004, i've been really wanting to find a place to get this. sure, you can make it at home but there's something about sitting in a hk style cafe and just snacking on this while sipping hk style milk tea. unfortunately for me, there's really NO place in los angeles that has it the way i like it.
thank goodness TGILW prepares this for me whenever i'm in the mood for it (which unfortunately for me, is like...everyday).

haven't posted photos of the snow one in awhile now. next week will mark the 2 year anniversary of losing snowie and also the 2 year anniversary of welcoming snowbie in our home. it's hard to believe how quickly time passes by. i'd be lying if i say that it's all a distant memory now. i still get so emotional and choked up when driving home and passing the forest canopies as i know her remains are somewhere in there. i recently saw some clearing out of the trees and brush as some homebuilder has decided to develop that piece of land in the hills. for some reason it bothers me as i know that is her resting place.
i still have some really bad glimpses and flashes of thoughts in my mind and it's always of the very last moment i see her in its clutches. not exactly the type of memory i want of her in my mind but nonetheless, the reality of her demise. in the end, the fault comes down to me and how i took her safety for granted. nobody else's fault but my own. no wonder, i broke down when i saw that one point of the narnia movie with the wolves and the fox.
friday the 21st will be another somber day.

anyway, here are a few photos of snowbie though. didn't get around to posting her here recently. the one above is of snowbie always stealing my socks when i take them off after i get home. she steals not only my socks by also my undies. she was just recently groomed and got her easter bunny ribbons in her hair. the one below is after i gave her a bath a few weeks ago - she's so fluffy and big when her hair grows out but she's actually really tiny underneath.
