quidam + meat parade
april 15, 2006

like many of you out there, i am a fan of cirque du soleil. although i've only seen mystere in las vegas once before, i've been wanting to see them whenever they come to los angeles. but you know how the song and dance goes - by the time you decide on going, the tickets are either sold out or they have moved onto their next city tour. i can't recall the number of different shows that have come in and out of los angeles but i never end up going. so this time, i vowed to go with some friends and to enjoy myself.

tgilw and i met up with DD, Hex and FX at the Queen Mary in LBC to see Quidam today. what an amazing day it was as it was really pouring down crap the day before. so the skies were blue and the sun shone down like i haven't seen in a long ass time.
although i'm a los angeleno, i rarely ever go down to long beach. most people in LA consider long beach to be its own little county really. they have a ton of restaurants and nightlife there but i never seem to have much incentive to go since it's far for everyone to meet up at. but after seeing the grandeur of the queen mary and driving through highways set up for the nascar racing the week before, i think i'll head there more often to check it out. just gotta be careful to not venture a little too far out of the city limits....you gotta lock your doors and keep your windows closed in those parts. my coworkers gave me a lengthy list of places to dine at and i'd like to check it out one of these days. also gives me a reason to explore this foreign land called "long beach" :p

after enjoying the 2.5 hour show, the group met up for a meat parade at greenfield churrascaria. i went there about 6-7 weeks ago at a different locale but it was my first time to the one in LBC. i've now gone to all the ones located in LA. :p although LBC has so many restaurants to chose from, we decided on this to round out the evening and i'm so glad we settled on it because i've been dreaming of meat for the past 2 days. plus, we were all ready to enjoy a night of gorging.

^ mmmmmmmmm........cheesy puffs
i was much more pleased with the service, decor and ambience at this greenfield. we all liked the fact that it was one single guy who kept on bringing us the meat all night long - so he would know what was just served to us vs. what we haven't tried. he was SO attentive and a good sport - even when i flashed the camera in his face while taking this pic:

the meat was just as good as the other one in west covina but i felt that the selection of salads and side dishes at the other one was a wee bit better. but it was still good for the $25.95 value. definitely worth the experience and the quality of food.
we all liked the top sirloin and the skirt steak the most. everything else was great too but there's just something about great meat seasoned just right, juicy and hot straight off the grills. :9 and let's not forget the cheesy puffs!

dessert wasn't included in the price, nor were the drinks. but we shared 2 slices of flan between the 5 of us. it was SO heavenly! i'm not a huge flan fan typically but that's probably because none of them tasted as good as this one. but i loved this. SO good and so worth working my ass off in martial arts class for. :x the total came out to around $41.00 per person including dinner, drinks, dessert and tax & tip. not bad for a night of brazilian bbq.
