snowbie galore
august 16, 2006

alright, be prepared for snowbie overdose in this entry. although i secretly know that you all love it. just a few photos from the park with her stuffed pet monkey and also at home with her favorite, quilted lamby - who is incredibly dirty in this photo. speaking of dirty, snowbie needs a bath today.

snowbie wishes her dad a happy birthday today. :D

how can you say no to this face?

awwww.....she loves her lamb....so much so that i already bought a back up a couple years ago in case this one falls apart one day. haha.

i've been really loving the gene simmons family jewels reality series. i like this family SO much more than the osbournes. granted, i love ozzy but not the family so much. the simmons family however are great and i love how down to earth the kids are...considering their dad is lead singer of KISS. shannon tweed looks great too and i think she's even hotter than when she was in playboy. i guess with a rock god like gene simmons, you wonder how they are as a dad and such....but you get to see the funny interactions between him and his family on this show. love it.

a little while back, i read that tankbear got the latest edition of nft - not for tourists guide to los angeles. it was a good reminder for me to get an updated copy too. i love this handy guide that shows me all the useful places in whatever part of la i'm at. you never know when you need to look for a bank, gas station, post office, coffeehouse. plus, all their maps are so clear, concise and nice to look at. remember, i DO have an eccentric interest in maps so i'm anal about how they look and function.

after browsing through the book, i often wonder why they don't have pages for areas east of monterey park? i mean, that's la county too but it's as if those cities are out in the twilight zone somewhere. oh well, at least they have those critical pages for me to navigate around la with. especially when you really need to find a place for good....red velvet cupcakes.

while i'm on the topic of things i've been digging and loving...i recently watched broken flowers on dvd and thought it was just hilarious. ok ok, maybe not clutching my stomach and tears flowing out of my eyes hilarious but it was witty, smart and funny. bill murray once again pulls off another stellar indiesque film with his performance. you can read the synopsis here.

and the soundtrack is AMAZING. i think the ethiopian jazz rocks after hearing it on this movie. it's so good, i actually bought it! check out both the movie and the soundtrack if you get a chance to. :) i highly recommend it.

ok, one more thing i've been digging is the TLC show, take home chef. is there anyone else watching this show out there? i've been taken in by this aussie chef, curtis stone and his ambush on unsuspecting shoppers where he offers to go home with them and cook them a meal for them and their SO/family. since the show is shot in los angeles, i notice that he often times ambushes people at the whole foods in pasadena. most of the people he goes home with are cute girls who drive nice cars and live in upper scale homes with rockin kitchens. ok, there has been an episode or two where the homes aren't that great but for the most part, they are pretty darn nice. and the kitchens are like those dream kitchens you see in a showroom! i mean, does everyone have kitchens like that nowadays? if so, how do you afford it?!

but i guess the people he meets are shopping during the morning hours/daytime and so they are typically women/men who don't work. they either take care of the kids or are just affluent enough to have a business of their own to have the flexibility of time off during the day.

either way, i like his recipes and how he stops off to always buy a present (usually at sur la table) for the person he ambushed. it's funny how certain places in la are so easily recognized. anyway, i like this show. cute, funny and i learn to make some nice stuff too.

currently listening to: deep purple, burn
