met up with 2 old friends for lunch today who in turn introduced me to 2 new friends. the venue for our lazy saturday winter's luncheon was of course...korean food. what's better than keeping ourselves warm with the hot sizzle of korean barbeque, a whole slew of panchan and some tasty spicy side dishes?
i haven't seen my old aol sidekicks in nearly a year now. so it's long overdue to see them for some good ole catching up. the best part about reminiscing about the past is also to be able to share the present with them. although memories are great and i love to live in the past, the present is where i need to be.
since they all knew how much i love korean food and how often i eat it, it was the obvious choice for lunch today. aside from the 3 orders of meat, we also got the haemul pajun (seafood pancake) and the kimchee bokkeum (pan fried kimchee with tofu and pork). since i've posted an ungodly number of bbq meat photos in the years past, i'll just keep it to the side dishes today.
i have such a history with some of these folks. for example, the first time DD ever saw me, i was a hard core game grrl standing in front of the big screen arcade game of samurai shodown. i don't think anything excites a guy more than a game grrl who can pull out all the secret moves. ;)
hk style iced lemon tea absolutely ROCKS! screw that shit at denny's that you need to add splenda into. this stuff is how iced tea should be.
another old friend is mileena. i totally lost my voice talking to her and everyone else today. i don't know why but i just yak away whenever i'm with friends. i'm typically a pretty quiet person [shaddup and stop laughing] but when i'm with people i like to hang out with, i just kind of can't shut my trap. it's almost embarassing. my friends are pretty much used to me being the entertainment a lot of the times but i felt sorry for the 2 new folks who met me today. i'm sure their ears were bleeding by the time they went home. i should state in my own self defense that i'm not the crazy chick who talks to herself and never lets others talk. :p
and here's victim one who had to endure my verbal onslaught today: matt. :) few people can really make me laugh and he sure can.
we went to get dessert and drinks afterwards. i wanted to take them to get those hk style waffles but the place i usually go to made it really shitty today. everything was falling apart and it just wasn't as good as before. so disappointing! it never fails you know...whenever you want to take someone to one of the places you think is decent, it always turns out to the worst visit. i have a foodie reputation to keep up with you know?! sorry folks for the bad hk waffles today. i'll make it up in stinky tofu for you. ;)
and here's the other new friend i met today: TW. aside from talking shop about cameras, lenses and such. there was of course the really critical topics to discuss such as LOUIS VUITTON BAGS, places to eat, fashion and hot things in general. ;)
such a fab afternoon hanging out with people who i click with. and of course 4 of us all brought our digital rebel xt's out for some photo opps. i got SO much advice from these pros that i feel much better about using my camera now. with the exception of the first 3, the rest in this entry were taken with the new camera. i can really see the difference in my photos. can't wait till our next outing.
