year of the dog

- happy belated chinese new year -
chinese new year has finally arrived and i wonder what's in store for this old dog. although it's technically my year, i'm not sure if that works towards me or against me. i also am not ultra superstitious in any way, so i don't go out of my way to read any feng shui horoscope stuff.
whatever it will bring, there's no stopping it now. the wheels are already well in motion.
last saturday night, we celebrated with a new year's eve dinner with my parents, in laws and some family friends. since my in laws were leaving back to hong kong on new year's day, it was the perfect bon voyage get together. my mom whipped up 2 types of crab dishes by using 6 crabs in total. one was a spicy chili crab while the other one was the traditional scallion ginger crab. both were delicious even though i'm one of those lazy people who hate eating crab. they are too much work really. plus my hands get all messy. yes, in case you're wondering, i'm also one of those who don't like to eat ribs either. :p
aside from the crabs, we also had steamed fish, fresh veggies and lop cheung, lop yook and yuan cheung (liver lop cheung). a simple dinner really without much fanfare as my family isn't one of those who go out to restaurants to eat on new year's. it's always too crowded and the service and food usually is below par.
anyway, wishing you all the best in the year of the dog. all i really can ask for this year above all else is...good health, both physically and mentally.
