6 hours w/ sarahkins
march 25, 2006

finally! after 3 years of knowing sarah online, we finally got to meet up for a dinner tonight. being that it was cold and somewhat....cold, we met up for korean food. ok ok, i make up any excuse to eat korean food really. but it's good when you have a translator too. right sarah?! ;) i'm glad she shares my OBSESSION for korean food and for beer and girltalk over that barbeque facial.

i haven't really met online folks for awhile now via my aiyah portal. so this was a really exciting meeting i have been looking forward to for literally....years now. :) i'm so glad that all the friends i've made and met in person through this site have all become really good friends of mine. sarah is no exception. she is every bit as adorable as she is online. and i love that when i sat down with her, it seemed like i've known her for years! we couldn't stop talking for about 6 hours straight. what's better than a beautiful girlfriend to talk shop with, good food and drinks to spend a saturday night?
i'm already looking forward to our next getogether again. :D :D

^ oh we packed it away alright....

^ mool neng myung & hite beer

^ the lone soldier after the battle

after stuffing ourselves with dduk bok ssam korean food, we headed over to guppy teahouse to get some dessert and girltalk. i never really come here at night but i could imagine how busy it was. and when i got there, it confirmed my suspicion. the place was completely hopping with kids left and right. i'm sure i was like 20 years older than some. and aiyah, what are the kids wearing nowadays! it's not that i'm conservative at all but these kids don't have style i tell ya. after about a 30 minute wait, we finally got a table tucked in the side of the place with a gigantic fishtank sticking out into our faces practically. cute concept but it was really in your way.

the food at guppy is taiwanese style snacks and deli with their most famous thing being their MONSTER shaved ice. they have your typical teas, icees, drinks and other things like popcorn chicken, porkchop rice and peanut butter brick toast! we knew we had to try some of that stuff.

^ the peanut butter brick toast was super thick and the edges were a bit dry
but the center was pillowy soft with a yummy layer of peanut butter with some
chocolate and honey drizzled on it. i will have to try their other toast items
another time.

^ sarahkins is such a good sport at acting all silly with me and my camera!
she's like an ad for everything we were trying. i know she's been wanting
to try some peanut butter brick toast for awhile now, ever since seeing some
photos of the thick condensed milk toast with peanut butter on my flickr site.

^ we shared a pot of lemon honey green tea but goddamn, the freakin honey
wouldn't come out! i got so tired of holding the honey dispenser that i just
opted to have my tea without it. i personally think the establishment didn't
want us to use so much of that expensive honey shit. :p

^ ah, the motherlode of guppy teahouse: the mixed fruit shaved ice with red
bean and condensed milk. oh my. oh my. oh my. this thing was not only HUGE
but it was delish. even though i wanted to order the small, i think they gave
us a large in retrospect. at $8.50, this was still a steal since the fresh
fruit were amazing. can't wait to have this again.

^ someone really wasn't going to share. ;)

^ they even gave us a huge soup ladle to dish out our shaved ice into soup
bowls. so of course sarah and i wanted to show you how gigantic the ladle
was with the shaved ice.
