soup is good food

i know some of you have been following my photostream these past few months on flickr and i really don't want to post about the same things there as i do here. but gimme some time to sort this out. i've been enjoying flickring a lot recently. i bought my account about 3 years ago but haven't even really used it until these past few months (shame on me). it's a good place to learn and look in addition to making some new friends & acquaintances. i may end up posting more photos over there and less over here or only post things that relate to my entry or what not. i dunno. i'm kinda confused about all these online portals of fun and what to do with them all. why can't there be more than 24 hours in a day??
anyway, i've been doing A LOT of cooking in recent months. i'm practically cooking about 5-6 nights a week and really want to document it here as well because i know a lot of you like looking at food photos and also for recipes etc.
i made the above soup yesterday for lunch that carried over to dinner. it's my cream of cauliflower soup courtesy of the food network. it's definitely one of my fave creamy soups. all you need are a few core ingredients and an immersion blender or regular blender if you wanna do it that way. you cook this soup as a regular brothy soup but you end up puree-ing it so it's slightly thick and it seriously tastes a lot like potato soup!
i made some adjustments to mine such as using 1/2 cup heavy cream (because that's what i had on hand) instead of the half+half or whole milk, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (instead of fresh). i suggest at the end you throw some parsley or chives on top and serve with some crusty french or garlic bread. it's soooooooo good on a freakin cold day/night like today in LA. brrrrrrrrrr.
i made this tortilla soup last month but you guys have already seen my tortilla soup photos before. just show-n-tell thas all. i went a little crazy with jalapenos and my lips ended up so puffy because of the spiciness. but it was so good. i was lazy and threw in tostitos chips but do you really care?
