happy 7th birthday aiyah.net
in lieu of a fattening devil's food chocolate cake, i'm opting for a healthier shrimp cocktail. :p actually, it's from the lunch we had at boudin at the wharf in san francisco. tasty shrimp they were.
anyway, holy moly....7th fuggin years! can you believe that? at this rate i'm going to be writing until the day i die. that is if i can still deal with the technology in my old age. by then, there probably won't be keyboards and tangible monitors anymore. i'll be doing that touching screens in midair type of thing.
i just went back in my archives to read what i wrote every since year on february 1st. funny how i always sound the same really. but at 7 years old, i am so thankful for keeping archives of all my entries since the inception of this site. if there is nothing else to be said about aiyah.net, one thing you can count on is the heavily archived entries still available to the whole damn world to read.
perhaps the one thing that strikes me peculiar is that in these 7 years i haven't changed my domain name. i haven't gone undergound. i haven't password protected. i haven't resurrected myself into some anonymous blog elsewhere. i haven't dropped out of this online world. and i still haven't posted a full photo of me on here yet (although i'm sure there are photos of me floating around on the www if you looked hard enough - but please don't try).
i know a lot of the other wonderful writers who started around my time or before have already taken one of the noted routes above for their own personal reasons but i have been fortunate with feeling ok about this site and still to be able to share my writings to all who wish to visit. like many people, i've had some negative run-ins but not severe enough to have to limit my readership or to throw in the towel. for the most part, it's been a really positive experience with all the people i've "met" via email, comments, snail mail and on a rare occasion - in person.
anyway, thanks for reading, coming back to read and for remembering this little old site.
