groovalooing

most of you probably don't know this about me....one of those few known facts about the mysterious aiyah one....i really love freestyle dancing. wait...i'm not saying i personally know how to at all but i looooovvveeeee watching locking, popping, b-boying, b-girling. so when i heard that the groovaloos were going their premiere show at csula's luckman theatre, i was so there. perhaps one thing more than anything else i would like to be really really good at, is to dance well. i mean, really well. but unfortunately, i don't.

so who are the groovaloos you ask? go check out their website to learn all about them. but their first premiere show entitled groovaloo get in the circle is about the cast members love for the dance and how their experiences have shaped them to be where they are today in dancing. i was surprised to find that the showing was at the luckmann intimate theatre and not their regular one, which meant every seat is a GREAT seat because you are right up close to the stage.

all i can say is that i was blown away by their performance and dancing. a very very talented cast performed the hour and a half act to some great beats and the dancing was out of this world. it will leave your jaw on the floor. there's a story, there's music, there's acting but mainly, there's some out of this world moves. if you are a fan of street dancing, freestyling, grooving, locking, popping and breaking, you HAVE TO see this show. it just started this weekend and will be on until february 25th at the cal state university los angeles luckman theatre. here's LA Weekly's take on groovaloo. i really urge you all to check it out and you will not be disappointed. i love the fact that the one thing that dancing brings together are people of all ages and of all backgrounds - there was young and old, white, black, asian, hispanic all representing.

i'll definitely try to go again if i can! but i you do go - be sure to get tickets ahead of time and go early since seating is first come, first serve!

hm, maybe i'll be inspired enough now to go take some locking classes? yes, it's my dream to be like re-run on what's happening!

anyway....go go GO see the show!
