project DOMO [19]

probably a couple weeks after the painting was done, we got a crew to come and hang all the doors for us. door-wise, i didn't get much input in terms of the style of the doors aside from the FRONT and the BACK doors. all other internal doors, my dad went on his own to get as he thought i didn't really need fancy doors for the innards. i don't really mind as long as they look good and are tasteful.
anyhoo...the front door above was chosen a long long time ago and delivered that long ago as well. it's just been laying around for someone to hang. finally it's up but the framing around it won't be done until the end. i hope. you see all the little details that you take for granted in your own abode? sometimes buying a new tract home or having a contractor do it all for you is so worth it.
all the doors that are hung still need to be painted i think. although they
are white, it still needs additional layers of paint to make it look good
better. i'm thinking of leaving the door white but it would be cool to have
a red door too. or am i thinking up my ass right now?

^ from the inside looking out.
have i mentioned that the whole theme of DOMO is....budget DOMO? which means nothing too extremely fancy or extravagant. it also means trying to get the best quality products that we can afford without going overboard. there are so many levels and prices to everything as i found out painfully these last few months. and it just doesn't pertain to doors either. it's for every damn thing, even down to the doorbell!
the front door that i loved was $1300 i believe but i had to be practical and went with this one instead. not a bad second choice of course but still not my #1. and it's like that with a lot of the things i ended up getting. many of the items aren't my ideal choices but they are "good enough" for the price and the look that i am going for.
this is especially difficult when you have your heart set on some amazing furniture or lights or granite or whatever. but....it's reality to have to be honest with what you can afford. so in the end, i skimped on some areas so i can splurge on others that i could not possibly substitute. it's not like my house is gonna be featured on cribs or anything but it at least has to be a place i'll enjoy coming home to everyday.

^ one of the master bathroom doors.
probably the biggest headache related to doors is the fact that the master bathroom has 2 doors - one leading to the master bedroom and one leading to the office. the problem in swinging the door inwards is that it's not an efficient use of the space as the entire sink will be blocked. having it swing outward would interfere with the space in both the office and the bedroom. then you also need to consider which way should it be hung...on the left or the right? so many factors to decide on.
ultimately, we decided to swing both doors outwards so that way the bathroom won't be blocked off with doors when in use. sure it took up a bit of the bedroom and office real estate but it's worth it and makes more sense in the end.

^ from the office, the door on the left leads to the master bathroom and the right leads to the hallway.

^ this door connects DOMO to the main house, which in this case is connected to the master bedroom of the main house. we've extended the master bedroom and added a glass door and windows in there. too bad i can't use this extra area for myself because it would be the best storage room ever!
